Gothic cellars

THE GOTHIC UNDERGROUND IS FURTHER CLOSED DUE TO RECONSTRUCTION.

History

The cellars were probably built in the 14th century. It was built to store food, drinks and hiding valuables. In 1360, Arnošt z Pardubic granted Český Brod the right to brew. Brewing flourished here and in 1576 was measured 42, 350 hl of beer. The cellars provided shelter for women, children and the elderly, when the city was attacked by the Hussites.

Information Center is closed on public holidays.
